2016 is well underway. Are you still scratching your head, wondering what you’re going to do to increase your amplification, success and audience on social media? Here are a few tips we’re currently implementing with our own clients. These are super simple social media strategies to kickstart your progress. Let us know how they work for you!
1. Create a Strategic Plan
Everything works better with a strategy. Create one for your social media. Look at your industry, competitors, content sources, create goals and objectives, and create a short list of tactics that you need to execute.
2. Build an Editorial Calendar
Create your roadmap for executing your tactics with an editorial calendar for the next three months. Jot down what you’ll be sharing each week (or even each day), who’s responsible, and what networks you’re sharing it on. You’ll thank yourself later.
3. Get Your Team On Board
Utilize the power of social media by getting your entire team on board. Make sure they have active and great looking social media profiles that support where they work! Ask them to set up a notification to be alerted when the company posts something so they can re-share. The more the merrier, right?
4. Automate It
There are some great tools out there to help make social easier by automating or scheduling your posts. Check out ifttt.com, Buffer, Hootsuite, Tweetdeck and Edgar to name just a few. These are not for everyone but they sure are slick.
5. Dive Into Video
More and more people want to see video rather than a photo or text. Think about how your company can leverage video for announcements, “how-to’s” or demonstrations, and integrate it into your social strategy. Get it on YouTube, Tweet it out, share it on Instagram or go live on Snapchat, Periscope and Meerkat.
6. Engage More Often
Sure posting to social is great an all but we often find the most value we get out of social media is through engagement. Spend at least 15 minutes to half and hour each day engaging with your audience. RT’s, comments, mentions, likes and following new people are great ways of doing this.
7. Track Progress
You can’t fix what you don’t know is broken. Use the (free) in-app analytics tools or subscribe to a reporting platform you’ll get great value out of. Keep a spreadsheet of metrics that are meaningful to your organization and update them each month (at a basic level). Keep track of which posts do well and which don’t and tweak where tweaking is due.
8. Take Better Photos
Photos work great as social media content, just make sure they’re of the best quality possible. Period.
9. Try Advertising
Here you thought you’d get away with not “paying” for social media marketing. Well, their are definite advantages to advertising on social media and we’d recommend you jump in. Utilize Facebook’s amazing advertising engine (and data!), Twitter’s reach and Instagram’s unique ad types. You just never know.
10. Do More (+ Have Fun)
Social media marketing isn’t supposed to be hard work! Get in there and do more with it. Post more, engage more, advertise more and have more fun with it. You’ll see the results, trust us.
